Last week our grade 3 students learned and talked about the Water Cycle. They understood that this is the process when water keeps going around and around. This cycle is made up of 4 main parts:
The revolution of the Moon around the Earth makes the Moon appear as if it is changing shape in the sky. From Earth we see the Moon grow from a thin crescent to a full disk (or full moon) and then shrink back to a thin crescent again before vanishing for a few days.
The Moon phases are produced by the alignment of the Moon and the Sun in the sky.
What is the phase of the moon?
The changing shape of the bright part of the Moon that we see is called its phase.
What causes the different phases of the Moon?
The phases of the Moon depend on its position in relation to the Sun and Earth. As the Moon makes its way around the Earth, we see the bright parts of the Moon's surface at different angles. These are called "phases" of the Moon.
Our children sang this song to remember the 8 phases of the moon. They liked it a lot:
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is the agency of the United States government that is responsible for the nation's civilian space program and for aeronautics and aerospace research. Since February 2006, NASA's mission statement has been to "pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research."On September 14, 2011, NASA announced that it had selected the design of a new Space Launch System that it said would take the agency's astronauts farther into space than ever before and provide the cornerstone for future human space exploration efforts by the U.S.NASA has thought about kids , that is why they created this NASA KIDS´ CLUB for all the kids who like and want to continue exploring more about the space and beyond.
All grade 4 students reviewed and learned more about shadows. They recalled that a shadow is an area where direct light from a light source cannot reach due to obstruction by an object. It occupies all of the space behind an opaque object with light in front of it.
What does the position of the sun affect?
The position of the sun affects the postion and size of the shadow.
What happened when the sun is in front of you?
The shadow forms behind you.
They were shown an animation to practice forming shadows. They had a good time playing with this game:
Last Week, my grade 3 students prepared their pictures representing recommendations for Electrical Safety at Home. They made a hard work when giving their presentations. So, I have created a slide of pictures about their beatiful works.
I want to express my satisfaction for all the great work you did when presenting your shadow puppets plays. During those classes you used a lot of your imagination and creativity and you created your shadow puppets. You understood that the best materials for making better shadows are opaque ones.
I have prepared a slide of photos taken while you were presenting your plays.
Great Job!!!!!!!
This week my grade 3 students created these beautiful works representing the main components in a simple circuit. They remembered that some of the main components of the simple circuits are:
bulb, or
buzzer, or
motor
battery or cell
cable
switch
Let me show you a slide of photos with some of the creative works that they made in class.Nice works my dear kids!!
Last week, all grade 4 students got ready to give their oral presentations about Physical and chemical changes. But, what is the difference between physical and chemical changes?Let me give you some reasons:
PHYSICAL CHANGES:
1.They do not produce
a new kind of matter because it is still the same matter.
2.Physical changes are
about heat and states of matter. For example, when you melt an ice cube and it turns to liquid,
it causes a change in the state of matter.
CHEMICAL CHANGES:
1. They produce a new
substance.
2. Chemical changes happen
on a much smaller scale.
Enjoy this slide of pictures when they were working in class.Grrrrrrrreat job my dear Lions,Tigers, and Leopards !
This a an educational game to review magnetic and non-magnetic materials, and how magnets work.I hope you can enjoy this game especially chosen for you.
All grade 3 students visited Agraria la Molina for learning more new things about plants.
Penguins were able to :
learn which plant parts we eat everyday
learn benefits of each plant part
plant some seeds
harvest some broccollies
prepare the soil for the seeds
I invite you to check this slide of pictures about that funny day for them. Hope you enjoy it!

“Children’s day was amazing! It was really cool! I
really liked it”. These were some of the phrases we heard from our students
after the celebration of children’s day at "El BOsque Club". It was a
fascinating experience for them because they rarely go to a club with all
their classmates. For us, the teachers, it was also a marvelous moment sharing
this time with them, hearing all their laughs, watching all their smiles and
feeling that spontaneous and enormous joy that they expressed while playing together. I think they will always remember this beautiful time together like
a big family we are: SAINT GEORGE’S FAMILY. You can have an idea of how this
event was by looking at the pictures below.

Last week grade 4 students have recalled and learned more important facts about plants. They like working in the smart board and also making experiments in class.I programmed an experiment which objective was to observe how stems work. You have to remember that
they support plants and
give them shape. They also contain tubes that carry water and minerals from
the roots and food from the leaves to all parts of the plant. Stems also
store food. In the following video, you will see some pictures taken during class work.I hope you enjoy it. Congrats my dear students!
Hello dear grade 4! I have created a slide with the pictures taken during your pair work.Take some time to look at them.I congratulate you for your work and effort and keep working like this.
Remember: WORK HARD AND BE THE STUDENT NUMBER ONE !
Last week grade 4 students learned the basic parts of a plant and its
functions. They learned that each part plays an important role in the plant. Also,
they learned that people eat many different parts of
plants. We all know that an apple is a fruit—it contains the apple tree's
seeds. But can you guess which plant part each food below is? In the link below you will find
more exercises to find out which other plant parts we can eat. Have fun!
After a hard work and long hours of study for the Progression Tests, my grade 4 students passed successfully. It was a hard week for my kids but the results were surprising: most of them got A and AD. That is why I had prepared some beautiful diplomas for them.
Take a look of the pictures in the slideshow below:
CONGRATULATIONS GRADE 4!
Good Results! on PhotoPeach
This is the first phrase I have to say to my children. Grade 3 took the first Science Progression Test and they got very good results. The paper was made of 15 pages, consisting of some contents from TERM 1 and 2. The prior week we were practicing with sample questions and exercises. The children demonstrated a good level of understanding, and they were participating either in an oral or written way actively. That is why I had prepared some beautiful diplomas to award for the students who got A and AD in the Progression Tests.
I feel satisfied for your success guys. Good Work!
What is a Magnet? A magnet is an object that produces an external magnetic field. A bar magnet has two ends:the north pole and the south pole. The magnetic forces are highest at the two ends.
This week we have been talking about what magnets are and which metallic materials are magnetic and which are not.In the link below you will practice more:
Here you have our last class about characteristics of materials.Review and practice with this slideshare. The video on page number 4 about shadows is below. Have fun! :D
It was
amazing for my grade 3 students to experiment how gelatine dissolves in water
at different temperatures. For this experiment they used these materials:
1.Three transparent plastic cups
2.Some gelatine
3.Water at three different temperatures ( cold, warm, and hot )
They
could observe that gelatine dissolved faster in hot water. They also enjoyed
looking and comparing this first cup with the other two cups. Nice work kids!
Last week of Term1, we talked about matter. You have to remember that matter is everthing that takes up space and has mass. The three important states of matter are: Solid liquid and gas.
In the animation below you will see how the particles of each state behave. I hope you like it.
After learning the life cycle of a flowering plant, the boys and girls from grade 4 learned a new song which title is "The needs of a plant".With this video my children learned that plants have basic needs: soil, water, sun, air and space. So, I invite you to see the video again to enjoy and sing it again.
Green day was an attractive day for my grade 4 students too. This Green day project was also divided in two main parts.Lions and Tigers were assigned to make a group work following this following sucess criteria:
Label the parts of a real flower and paste it in a cardboard.
Tear green paper in small pieces to paste them around the border of the cardboard.
Write three ideas why plants are important in our lives.
Paste these ideas in the cardboard to finish the poster.
On the other hand, Leopards also created some beautiful souvenirs to share with their friends from the other two rooms. I was very happy to see all grade 4 not only enjoying while making these projects, but also showing the responsibility we have to save the plants in our home "The Earth".
Take a look at the pictures of them while working. Grrrrrrrrrrrrreat work my kids! :D
In term 1, my grade 3 students made some beautiful projects to highlight the importance of "Green Day". They understood that it is our responsibility to take care of the plants, green areas and all the plants to save our home: the Earth. They recognised the important role that plants play in the planet: to keep all living things alive.
The big project was divided in two main parts: creating posters and making some souvenirs. That is why Seals and Penguins created beautiful posters which were shown in the bulletin board, and Polar Bears made some trees souvenirs, which were shared with their friends from the other two rooms. Nice works my children! :D
Let me show you the pictures of them while working just by clicking the slideshow below:
Last week , all grade 4 were giving their group presentations about the new
Science anthem and their Germination Projects. For their group presentations they
used different pictures. They also got good results from their germination
projects because most seeds had germinated well and they could see ther
seedlings.
It was an amazing time by learning and having fun at the same
time.Lions,Tigers and Leopards could see that with love, cheers, effort and
patience, they can always have great results. You can now enjoy the video with all
the pictures taken while you were working.
GRRRREAT WORK dear children!!
In term 1, we started talking about habitats.Grade 3 students
understood that just like you and me all animals and plants need a place to live
in.They learned that there are different examples of habitats in the world from
a big forest to a simple drop of water in which some microorganisms are
found. They were very interested in learning more about habitats. All
students participated in a game in which they had to click the animal under the
right category.
In the link below you will find the web page about the habitats
games.I hope you like it.
Hello my dear students from grade 3!
I want to welcome you back to school especially to our subject SCIENCE.In this class, this year you will learn very interesting topics around things around the world.About the three important fields in Science which are: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We are doing experiment, research and more other activities in our classes.
Also, you can see the video of our famous song we have been singing during these days, which title is " Science is real".
I really hope you like it, and I wish you a great year of success and happiness.
Check our video and enjoy it as much as you can :)
With all my love,
This year is going to be a very interesting year because you will learn new topics in class and also by investigating and by experimenting.
You will learn topics related to Biology, Chemistry and Physics. So, to start the year all grade 4 students practiced a new song which I had created just thinking about them to remember important ideas about the subject along the year.
Here you have our Science Anthem to sing it and have fun!
